All About Jane-5 Years

LIttle Miss Jane is five years old! I don't know what it is about this little girl but to me she will always be a little three year old. Even when she is twenty I will still see that little three year old Jane. I think part of it is that she was my baby the longest of all of my kids so far, so maybe that is it. Janie is my little buddy. She loves to be with me and I love that! It will be hard to send her to kindergarten next year, but she is so ready. I can see how she is starting to get really bored here at home and she is wanting me to entertain her all the time, so that tells me she is ready for school.

There is just something so special about Jane, people just love her. She has all these cute little boys that she goes to preschool and church with that just love her and want to sit by her and play with her, it is really cute. She has such an easy personality about almost everything. It is so nice that she doesn't get her feelings hurt about some things but there are times when I get really frustrated with her becuase she doesn't seem to care when I really want her to. Lately she has been really bad at not doing what I ask her to do. I will beg her to make her bed and clean up and she just doesn't, it is the most frustrating thing!

One thing that I really love about Jane right now that I hope lasts, is that she loves to help me in the kitchen. She loves to help me make stuff and she is turnning into quite a little cooker girl. Hopefully it lasts because I would love to always have someone that can help me make meals.

Jane is really into Frozen right now and especially the songs. She is always wanting to turn on my phone to pandora the disney station and try and hear frozen songs. In fact I have some of funniest videos of her singing her Frozen songs. She also likes to steal my phone when I am not paying attention and go and take selfies and videos of herself singing. I seriously love it!

For her birthday she got a little stuffed animal hedgehog and she named it Holly, she loves that thing so much and has to have it in order to go to sleep.

Jane loves her brother and sisters so much. She wants to play with them all the time and gets hurt when they are busy or want to do something else. Russ is just now getting big enough to start playing with her and she is loving it. She usually just teases him to death, but now that he is getting a little older she is enjoying him more. She also just loves her little Annie and I can't wait for Anne to get big and start following her big sister around.

I love love love this crazy girl! She is so funny and makes us laugh so much with her laid back and silly personality. I feel so bleesed that I get to be her mom!

Janie's 5th Birthday

I don't give my kids a birthday party every year, thank goodness! I feel bad that I hate giving them so bad, but I seriously do! They are one of the things that I dread the most as a parent. Thankfully this was an off year for Jane so we did a family party. We had Great Grandma, Judy and Grandma and Grandpa Hansen and uncle Joe come and help us celebrate.

Here is out little group. It is nice to have a little bit of family close to us for these occasions.

Janie was excited because Aunt Judy bought her some jammies and they were almost exactly like some that Nellie had gotten. These two are funny because they are really best of friends, worst of enemies.

These three are pretty close and I love it. I hope they stay that way!

Big surprise that Jane wanted a Frozen cake for her birthday. She got a book that had these little figurines in it for Christmas so it was actually really easy to make the cake. And it actually turned out pretty good. I love how excited the girls get about the cakes I make them. They aren't anything special but the kids think they are and that's all that matters!

Janie doing her usual funny smile. She is still going through a bit of an akward smile phase. She was so excited for her cake and she wanted blue candles becasue of it being Frozen.

I love celebrating my kids birthdays! It is so special and exciting to see them grow and turn into these big people full of personality. We love our Janie and just can't believe she is already five years old!

Happenings

Most of this post is about Russ and Anne because they are at such fun ages right now where they are learning new things and doing such cute things.

Russ did not want to wear his costume for Halloween and it was pulling teeth to get him to put it on, but all of a sudden he loves wearing it. Go figure. He will bring me his costume to put on and then I put it on him and he is all happy for a minute and then he takes it off and almost immediately he brings it to me to put on him again. It gets a little old.

With all of the super warm day we have been having we have taken advantage of the park and Annie really loves to swing.

I took Annie to the Dr. for her 9 month appointment and she is just a teenie tiny. 15 lbs. 5 oz. and 26 and a half inches. I really love my little tiny girls. Thats not to say that if I had a chubby one that I wouldn't love that too. She had to get her finger pricked to test her iron levels and she didn't make a peep, she just looked at her blood like "hmm thats interesting". Its nice that she hasn't gotten to the dramatic age yet, because they all get there at some point.

Russ loves to watch the garbage trucks and Janie likes to go out there with him too. One day they were taking forever so I went out there and they were just sitting next to each other on the grass. I tried to take a picture but they saw me and Jane decided they needed to pose.

I have stopped giving Russy naps everyday because he is staying up so late on the nights that he gets them. It has been very reluctant on my part because I just really need that time with them asleep, but he really doesn't need them and most days that I don't give him one he is just fine and hasn't seemed sleepy at all. But one day the girls had a movie on and he found his blanket that he is only supposed to get for naps and this happened. He woke up so grumpy too, which stinks because he almost always wakes up so happy.

When we go to Chick Fil A we always smash into a small booth because it is too hard to try and find a bigger spot together. The kids all looked so cute smashed in there that I had to get a picture. I love how Russ has his hands on his cheeks.

Then Annie saw me take out my camera and she immediately smiled. It was so cute that she knew what she was supposed to do when the camera came out. I love her little scrunched faced smile.

I was cooking one day and Russy was playing in the pantry, I heard him say what I thought was him saying our Last name, "hicheys" because he can't say his R's, and I turned around to tell him "Good job buddy you know our last name" and I saw him chomping on my baking chocolate bar. He was saying Hersheys. It was pretty funny.

Russ seriously loves the ipad. He calls it "my hipad" he always wants to watch diggers and trucks on it, but he also will say "watch puter guy" because Keivn watches Eli the computer guy and Russ just wants to be like his dad. So funny. I was using it one day and I set it down and he said "my turn?" and the he wanted to watch Eli the Computer Guy and he watched it for a while. It was too funny.
Yes this is all the kids doing something on the ipad. It bothers me a little how easily they get obsessed with that thing, so I rarely let them use it. Maybe I am a bad mom because every other kid out there pretty much has their own, but I refuse to go there. I don't think it is necessary for kids to have that. I love that my kids are so good at using their imaginations to play. They come up with such creative things to do together. They keep asking when they can get their own ipad or kindle and I keep telling them when they can pay for it themselves because I will never buy it. I hope I stick by my word. :/
Annie has finally reached the point where we can feed her most anything. She doesn't seem to choke and she does really well feeding herself. She is especially fond of berrries and even veggies too. It is so nice in the beginning when they will eat pretty much everything. It just stinks later on when they start to get picky because it is something that they used to eat that they no longer will.

Annie's hair has really started to come in good, and the stuff on top that never fell out has gotten really long. Its crazy how after I take out her little pony it will just stick straight up on her head. She looks like a little rooster.

Russy is at such a fun age. He has gotten so sweet and he loves to to give kisses and hugs. But the thing that I love the most right now is when I am lounging around on the couch or whatever, he will say "Russy nuggle Mom" and he comes and just lays with me and snuggles. It totally melts my heart. Of course he likes to do it with his dad the most, but he will still do it with me so I am happy.

I just love this cute picture of my babies. How did they all get so big!

I have rasied a bunch of counter apes! I really want them to be wtih me in the kitchen, but why oh why do they feel like they have to all be on the counter! Sometimes I can handle it and sometimes it just make me crazy! We made some brownies and this time it was actually really fun to have them up there.

New Year's

Once again we had a great New Years Eve and Day. Nothing too exciting as usual. We really love to just spend time together as a family. We watched a movie and I made some appetizers for dinner. It was fun. Once again we celebrated New York New Years which here in California is awesome if you have little kids. We had them in bed by ten after our celebration and finishing the movie.

I'm not sure why things like the blowers and hats kids just think are the coolest things ever, but its worth the little bit of money that they are. Russ had a little hat too, but I accidentally snapped the elastic around his chin and he got really sad and then refused to be in the pictures. :(

Annie looked really cute with the little crown on though.

Kevy had New Years Day off so we went to lunch at Dickeys, The kids just think getting a free ice crean cone is just one of the coolest things ever. They wanted to go outside and eat since it was such a nice day and I just seriously love this picture of Russ with his bib on. Too funny.

After baby naps we took advantage of the beautiful day and went for a bike ride. This is a picture of my amazing Christmas present that Kevin got for me. Yes both the biike and the trailer. We have been talking for a while about how badly we wanted to go on bike rides with the kids since there are so many great paths and places to ride around here. But I didn't have a bike or a trailer. So now that I do we have been going on a lot of rides and it has been awesome. Annie and Russ do great in the trailer now we just need to get Jane riding with no training wheels because it is holding us up a bit.

We even had a little neighbor boy come and ride his bike with us. It was a lot of fun.

I was worried that it would maybe be hard to pull these two, but I honestly don't even notice it.

Another great start to our year. We are so excited to see what this year will bring for our family.
