Last week our branch had a ground breaking ceremony for our new chapel. I am sure that most people might think big deal, but for us out here it is a huge deal. I thought the same way when we lived in Utah and there were buildings built all the time. But this little branch has never had a building. We meet in a sectioned off part of the old Masonic temple building. It really is such a dump. The first time that we came to this branch (5 years ago this week!) I remember walking in the building and thinking that surely this is not our Church! We have a lot of classes that meet in the hallways and in primary we just section off parts of the small room for class time. The bathrooms are disgusting and the whole building is not nice. So it is going to be huge that there will be a nice new building to meet in, and they are planning on having it done around November. Of course we probably will have moved by then, but we are grateful that the branch here will get to enjoy the building, and that by us moving out here, we helped to make that a reality.
Nellie was really excited about getting to dig up the ground, but she wanted to do it herself, go figure, but it was just too hard for her to do so then she said "Mommy, come help me do it by myself!" I thought that was funny.
Lizzy didn't understand the whole breaking ground thing, because the next day (Sunday) when we went to church she said "But I thought that we were going to our new building!" We had to explain it takes time to build it.

It was a really neat experience to get to be a part of for our little family. We definitely feel like we have been able to be missionaries out here and it has been a great learning and growing experience for our family.

Wow you have been quite the blogger! I have missed so much lately! I love that you write it all down, I want to be better at that! I love your new hair, it looks so cute! And those girls look so darling in their little dancing outfits, it makes me want a girl so bad!
That really is a neat thing! You take for granted things like that living in Utah. Cute family picture!
How neat. It's too bad that you won't be there for the new building, but how awesome for the branch!
We have waited a long time for this new building (19 years). The building we have now is fairly small, and split level, but it is nice, clean and well maintained. The Lord really blessed us with this building we are meeting in. Jeff and I have seen us meet in much worse situations, old storehouses, places with cigarette butts all over, stinky places. this is a great place to be temporarily, but the Lord sees that we are getting bigger and need a new place to meet! Concordia does not have that to offer, so lets build! YAY! We cant wait! What a sweet gift we have been given!
