It was so nice to have a bunch of costumes that I have already made so that we could use them. Even better was having sweet kids that were willing to wear costumes that we already had. In some ways I feel bad because Lizzy pretty much gets a new costume every year. But that's kindof just the way life goes. She wanted to be an angel this year so i was bound and determined to spend less than 15 dollars on her costume becuase let's face it, I'm a cheapskate and unfortunately it seems like I keep getting worse! I found some cheap white fabric at Walmart and we got her halo and wings for super cheap at Joann when there was a big sale. So I ended up ending about 12 dollars for hers. For Nellie's I knew she had been wanting to be tinkerbell for ages so I really wanted to make that happen but finding a cheap costume was hard. We ended up finding a 10 dollar one on a garage sale site that was for an adult and I just took it in on the sides and added tule at the top and she wore a green t shirt. It worked out great.
I know a lot of people like to dress their families in a theme, but I have stayed away from doing that so far because I want to let them choose what they really want to be. But they are all talking like they want to do Star Wars next year, so who knows. One thing I do know is that this is the cutest group of kids I have ever seen!
I made this costume for Lizzy about six years ago. It was just as cute on my little Jane.
My all time favorite costumes!! It was worth the time I spent all those years ago to make these costume for Lizzy so that all my girls could wear them. Especially because there is no way I could spend that kind of time now. It makes me a little sad to see that this is that last time I will have a little lamb. We are at the end of the babies, which makes me a little sad, but a lot happy for the next chapter in our family's lives. We have so much we want to do with the kids that has been too hard with so many little ones.
I love this silly captain America! He was excited to get the shield for his birthday to complete his costume.
We decided to go trick-or-treating in our old neighborhood with our old neighbors the Zobels. We sure miss having them as neighbors and we sure miss that old neighborhood. The invited us over for pizza first and then we went after that. After we got about halfway done with the houses, Russell decided that he was done. Like could care less about any more candy. I think he was just tired of walking and wanted to sit down. Annie was done too. Clara had been done for quite a while and I had been giving her suckers to keep her quiet. I thought she would be all over it and would love it, and she did like the suckers,ut she kept dropping them in the wagon and I couldn't find them. I don't know why she wouldn't just hold onto them! So silly! So we ended up being done rather quickly, which was just fine by me, because let's face it, we end up throwing away a good portion of the candy anyway because they get tired of it after a few weeks and they are on to Christmas goodies.
